The Music Cognitive Test (MCT) and its supporting materials are protected by copyright.

To request a copy of the test and user manual (including administration and scoring instructions), please complete the form below.
The MCT is currently available in two validated versions: English and Italian.

A licensing fee may apply depending on the intended use (see details below).

Educational / Research / Clinical Use

The MCT may be used, reproduced, and distributed without a licensing fee by:

  • Universities and higher education institutions
  • Public health professionals and public health institutes
  • Charities and non-profit organisations
  • Public hospitals and public clinics

 

When permission and/or a licensing fee may be required

Prior written permission and licensing fees may be required for:

  • Industry-sponsored research or research funded by commercial entities (including pharma)
  • Private clinics and private hospitals

  • Terms to use the Music Cognitive Test
  • Copyright and permitted use: The Music Cognitive Test (MCT) is protected by copyright. Any unauthorised use is prohibited.
  • No modifications or derivative works: Modifying, adapting, or developing materials based on the MCT is not permitted. This includes creating electronic versions, apps, digital platforms, or derivatives of any kind.
  • Acknowledgement of source: Any use of the MCT must include an acknowledgement of the MCT as the source. (© The Music Cognitive Test, A. M. A. Mangiacotti, 2026 – all rights reserved; permission for commercial use required; Mctest.eu).
  • Republication (full or partial) requires permission: To republish the MCT (in full or in part), please request permission by emailing info@mctest.eu with the subject line: “Request for publication”, and include the title of your publication.
  • Any approved republication must include: the copyright notice “© The Music Cognitive Test, A.   • No publication in media or online without permission: It is prohibited to publish the MCT (or any part of the test), the instructions, and/or links directing to these materials in newspapers, magazines (including online articles), or websites without prior written permission from the copyright holder.
  • No patient charges: MCT users should make the test available to patients free of charge.
  • User responsibility and limitation of liability: The user is responsible for the appropriate use of the MCT. The MCT authors do not indemnify users and do not guarantee outcomes of clinical trials or other applications in which the MCT is used. Responsibility for proper use, administration, scoring, interpretation, and quality of application rests entirely with the user.
